Drifter

I haven’t shown my Linnaeus colors much love over the past year, so when I threw together a small cosmetics bag to come up to my folks (for what I thought would be a quick visit), I tossed in a few colors which I was determined to wear at some point. Honestly, I really haven’t been in the mood to even look at my makeup- I’ve had no inspiration, and to take the time to put anything on my face has lately seemed like a huge task that I just don’t have energy for. (back problems again, but I won’t bother you all with that here) Read More »

Awesome package!

As you all know me by now, you know I’m a sucker for colors. Anything unique that happens to catch my eye, and I’m usually one to be there to get it. Or at least letting everyone know I want it… In this case, back after Christmas of 2011, when Sweetpea & Fay had just released this color, I jumped on it. I’ve never seen a gold so beautiful and opaque for a lip, and I had to have it. Upon looking up SP&F, I’ve noticed now they have their own website, though when I placed my order it was done through their Etsy shop. Soft3

Basically, this is a post where I have absolutely no clue as to what colors I have on my eyes. Foundation, face routine are probably still the same… But I can’t even guess what shadows I have on my lids. But enjoy!

I wish I knew what it was, because I have another idea from this… Dagnabit!

Neutral Birthday

Another year passes, and I’m another year younger- I wish!!
Old enough to know better, young enough to not care… And I had fun celebrating the second anniversary of my 30th Birth Day.

I’m very lucky this year because I have Pirate and my adorably handsome Lil’ Monster to celebrate, in addition to my own family. (We’ll be celebrating separately, since we live so far apart now….) Anywho. Pirate decided it was going to be a Japanese night, considering I absolutely adore sushi (so much, I even make it!) and he really wanted a particular dish. We ventured out for a semi-early dinner, and took the little guy with us. Needless to say, he was an absolute doll and slept through most of dinner. If he keeps this behavior up, he’ll be tagging along for more dinners with us! Read More »

Muted Hues

Today’s look brought to you by a Limited Edition Palette that was offered by Scaredy Cat Cosmetics during the holiday season of 2011. Yes, I’m way behind the 8 ball with this one- because I do have a review of the palette lined up. But when you toss in back problems, a baby, and time management… It’s a mess! Luckily with Lil’ Monster getting older, I’m better able to anticipate my schedule and get things done. Read More »

Dollipopped

A week ago, I decided I was going to don some plain makeup. Then I said screw it, and decided on breaking into my Sweetheart Palette from Sugarpill instead. Namely, Dollypop. I love pink. After years of spurning anything lighter than a shade of deep maroon, I finally broke in to pinks and shades of red that I otherwise wouldn’t touch. Needless to say, I haven’t looked back.

What better way to wear a colorful eye than to dig out my Sugarpill goodies… Exactly. Read More »

Anti Valentine

In a measly 2 weeks, the holiday I detest will be upon us. However, I think Pirate and I are actually making some sort of plans… Don’t worry though, it won’t be “sweet” and “cute”. Blargh. I’m brainstorming now as to what looks I can come up with in order to show my anti-V-ness. HAHA! I intend to shock and awe on said night of venturing out, if we do go ahead and join the sickeningly sweet crowds of *barf* lovebirds… But whatever, I can be the Grinch of St. Valentine’s Day I suppose. Gilded Colors

Well, this is a post to gander at… Because for the life of me, I can’t remember what colors I grabbed to do this look. The company name is eluding me, and I can’t seem to locate them within my stash. They were little sample baggies sent to me from a friend of mine, but like I said- I can’t for the life of me remember what’s what!

I do know these were taken while I was down in CT with my parents shortly before Christmas. I wanted pretty holiday inspired colors, and I think I did a pretty good job achieving that.

My face is typical BB cream, Fyrinnae blush, liquid liner, mascara, and Meow Cosmetics foundation to set. Otherwise- I’m clueless as to what’s on my eyes. My lips are my favorite red lippie in my stash, Morgana Cryptoria’s Very Cherry. Read More »

Dramatic

Little time for makeup, nevermind absolutely being able to take the time to get all dolled up lately… Ahhh, such is the life of a new Mom. However, I’ve heard it gets worse as they become toddlers… But not to fear, there is much to be learned in the department of “Holy shit get your face painted on NOW.”

This entire look took me maybe 15-20 minutes, and I’m quite proud of how it came out. I don’t necessarily like how my pink brows kind of flashed-out in some of the pictures I took, but overall… I liked how they shifted. Thanks Magentric! That’s what I get for using a sparkly shadow as brow-filler… This is a combination look with Sugarpill Cosmetics and Scaredy Cat Cosmetics.

So, the reason for this dolled up look was because my hubs, Pirate, called in to a radio station and won a contest for tickets to go see FUN. at Wachusett Mountain in MA last week, on the 16th. You know, those guys that sing “Some Nights”, and “We Are Young”. Those of said fame. Well, it was a “Secret Show” which you couldn’t buy tickets for, so the only way to get in was, yep, to win them. Hooray. We did. Read More »

There’s no doubt about it- I’m a sucker for duo-chromes. Anything- lippies, nail polish, eye shadows. If it’s got a shift to it, it’s on the wishlist of “Things I REALLY Need”. A little dramatic? Nahhh, I don’t think so…

The pairing of these colors surprised me, as you’ll note in an upcoming look I’ve used the same pink shade over a black base… And I’ll let you guess what the color turns to instead of pink. (Hint: it’s used to set my eyeliner) On the day I wore this, I was trying to figure out whether I wanted to have pink or blue and a touch of green. After thinking it over for a few moments, I realized what the hell… I can wear all three!!

Typically, for ease of reference, I use shadows from the same company to create looks. Bah. I need to not do that so often, because the results can be quite fabulous…. As you see! Sure- I dug through my makeup trays and fussed over what to match with the colors I wanted… It all turned out just fine in the end. Read More »

Yet again, hunting around on the computer yielded pictures of me wearing makeup over the summer. This particular look I believe was for just a day out with my husband, but I don’t remember where. We had been married just over a month, and I actually think it was the first time putting cosmetics on my face since my day-after-the-wedding-still-has-wedding-makeup-on makeup. Yes, I did. I don’t usually… But that’s another story… K?

There are a few shades of the spectrum that I really adore pairing with my eyes, especially if I choose the correct ones and the end result is striking. These greens do just that. This is a Sugarpill look, and I know this…

Why?
Lumi is most definitely that soft, shimmery highlight on my brow bone and inner corner. Absinthe is the striking green, and Stella I like to use to set kohl eyeliner because of the glittery effect it gives. The smoky green-gray? If I had to venture a complete guess, it’s Junebug. I wanted a softer, smoky look, and you’ll understand what I mean if you go and take a look at the color Junebug compared to how I’ve softened it on my eyes. Big difference! Perhaps I’ll soon do a look with it full-force to show just how awesomesauce the pigment itself is. Indeed… Read More »

Alright… I have proof I wore makeup whilst pregnant with the Lil’ Monster! It wasn’t often, and by the time I realized I had pictures done, I didn’t want to try and fit myself at the computer desk to edit them. This was a look done back in July, and I’m not entirely sure of ALL the makeup I used… Eek! I mean really… I can’t remember, what, 5 months ago!? Has it really been that long!? Yep. I do know that on this particular day, we went to Hampton Beach. How do I know this? I remember being in that purple maxi dress and wearing (briefly) the colored shawl you see behind my shoulder in the truck. I wore it just once over the summer, so yeah. Beach day! We met up with my sister and her friend, and enjoyed the surf and the sun!

So if I were to venture a guess, this is a combination of colors from both the Husbandry and the mNg Collection My Pretty Zombie has. I think the pink is mNg #2, because it’s got the best pink-to-green shift ever. I  it so freaking baaaad! Read More »

Well, better late than never… Since my last post, I got married and had our son early in Mid-September. I’ve been wearing makeup more often, and I’ve been trying to get online more frequently between feeding, changing, playing with and just staring at our Lil’ Monster. This look was done just about three weeks after our son was born. Truth be told, I hadn’t bothered with makeup almost my entire pregnancy because I was so tired all the time. The tradeoff was my back was doing better, but even that’s giving me troubles again. Problem is, I missed posting and writing all that time- and here I was planning on writing every day, putting on makeup every day, and blogging even more often. That plan obviously failed. My little man is such a good baby, I’m going to make a concerted effort (again!) to get back into the business of regularly scheduled postings. That means makeup, fun, and general goofiness.

This particular day I had gone out with my Mom and son, and we had just run some errands quickly and gone home. I gotta tell you, even now my little man is such a good boy for car rides! Plus, it’s funny to see people looking into the car seat and trying to find him- he’s still not quite 7lbs yet, so people tend to remark on what a peanut he is. It’s almost like “Where’s the baby hiding in there?!” Silly indeed. If you want to see some cuteness, I’ll be keeping some updates about him over on my personal blog here… Including his birth announcement picture!

Anywho, this makeup was quick and easy, and I love how the colors complimented each other. It really suited my mood, and because it’s such an easy look to throw together, I’ve worn it two or three times since this initial donning of the colors. You wouldn’t think such a soft blue-green would look good with a bronze-purple color… But proof- it does!

T-minus 0 until kickoff… I so need to get better at this whole blogging thing. I mean, not a peep since end of June!? BAH!

No excuse!

Life’s been full of surprises and distractions, and lately I’m finding myself just absolutely overwhelmed, so I’ve been kind of shying away from the blogging aspect of being online because a) I’ve had no inspiration for putting on brightly or any colored makeup (for that matter) and b) I’ve just been really blahhhh why bother. Then again, the few times I have managed to get slap on my face, it’s been quite pretty. Where does that leave me? Somewhere between don’t give a damn and crap I forgot to dump my SD card.

Yeah.

I finally decided to get some color on my face, and seeing as I wanted to please Pirate, I dug out the Sugarpill goodies he bought me and started randomly putting on colors as I saw fit. This look combines colors from both the Sweetheart and the Heart  Breaker palette. I threw on some glitter for good measure too! The amethyst and silver pendant I’m wearing was a Birthday Gift from my sister this past year- and it’s so versatile that it goes with everything! I particularly enjoy wearing it with contrasting colors- and using green and purple together is definitely one of my favorites! I was wearing a long royal purple maxi dress, so it all tied in nicely.
