Kicking off Summer With a Sizzling Look and Makeup Zombie

Summer’s finally making it’s way, slowly, to New England. This far up in the mountains, people think it stays cold all the time. Let me debunk that myth for you- it doesn’t!!! Sure, we get pretty hot- but what I like best about it is the fact that we don’t get the oppressive humidity like further south tends to do… And honestly, I have no idea how you folks can put up with it. When I’m stuck in humidity that you can cut with a butterknife and watch water pour out… It’s too much. I feel like the Wicked Witch of the West, and pretty much just want to scream “I’m melllllting, melllllllllting!”

Up here… I don’t have to. The mountains are breezy. Sure, we have humid days- but they’re not every single day. And while many of you right now are dealing with oppressive temperatures and humidity… We’re just starting to ease into summer. The nights are still cool enough for a sweatshirt, but the days (when they haven’t been rainy) are sunny, warm, and the perfect temperature in the mid 70′s. And these kinds of nights are great to go out back, light up the firepit, and relax listening to the sounds of the woods. Just as long as the coyotes stay away from me, I’m good.

On My Face:
Arran Aromatics Moisturizing Cream
Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel as face primer (it’s awesome!)
Nyx Color Correctors (Yellow, Green & Lavender)
Meow Cosmetics Purr-Fect Puss Foundation in Siamese-Inquisitive
Fyrinnae Glow Blush in Enrapture applied to apples of cheeks
e.l.f. Mineral Eye Shadows:
Temptress to contour hollows of cheeks
Angelic to highlight tops of cheekbones
My Beauty Addiction’s Skin Rituals Advanced Lip Solutions Plumping Butter

On My Eyes:
My Beauty Addiction’s Shadow-Poxy Eye Primer
Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy
Fyrinnae Eye Shadows:
Arcane Magic Electric Stardust on inner 1/2 of eye
Darling Misfit on outside 1/2 of eye
Atomic Afterglow blended from crease upwards, darkened, and applied to lower lashline
Nijiro on brow, inside corner of eyes, lightly applied at outer edges of shadows
Scaredy Cat Cosmetics Peacock Blood foiled and applied as eyeliner on upper lid
Wet ‘n Wild MegaPlump Mascara in Black

And that’s pretty much it! A fairly easy look, wouldn’t you agree? This was my second attempt at using Pixie Epoxy, and I have to say… It indeed is the amazing stuff it’s said to be! It does take a bit more shadow when you apply it over PE than just primer, but the result is an intense, bright “pop” of a look. The shadows look foiled- without having to wet your brushes! How sweet is that?!

Don’t forget to head over and check out my hot blonde friend Makeup Zombie, aka Wendi, to see her kickoff to summer! Think oranges will look funny being used in a look? Think again! You just need to wear it the right way… And she’ll show you how!

It definitely depends on what tone of orange you choose, and how much of it goes on your face. I think we all agree that Wendi just knocks it out of the park with this look… Right?? Right?? YES!

I’m totally ready for some fun in the sun… How about you?

As a side note, I’m wearing one of my favorite necklaces. I got it from Pole Star Jewelry on Etsy, and it’s my birthstone- Amethyst. It’s small, delicate, and oxidized. I have a thing for oxidized jewelry… So that was my birthday present to myself last year!

P.S.- Oh yeah… Please don’t mind all the cat hair stuck to my shirt. Shortly before I snapped these pictures, I attempted to get Little Dude into a cone because he keeps opening up a scrape on his back, near his tail. It’s because he loves to chase annoy his Mama, Peeps, and she chases him back… And bats his ass with claws. Well- I guess he had one too many claw attacks- he licked a spot bald and it’s got a nice big sore there. So- back to head cone. Little Dude is skittish, and he’s never been on a collar, nevermind a leash. I got the cone and collar on him with Dad’s help- but Dad let him go too soon. I didn’t get him leashed… So off he bounded, running like a spaz and unable to get into the small places he was trying to go hide. He did not like this at all. He tried to run under a desk, cone stopped him. Tried to go into his favorite box, cone stopped him. Tried to then run to the hearth and jump up to get upstairs- but each time he tried to jump, the cone hit the brickwork and stopped him in his tracks. Off to the races, through the kitchen, around the bar twice… Past his Dad Hobbes… He literally was scrubbing the floor, trying to get traction- and couldn’t! Spent a few moments running in place…
At this point, Dad and I figure if we step in front of him, he’s going to try and go up us, so we stood back to wait and see what he’d do next. Well, folks… We nearly peed ourselves laughing. I felt awful because my cat was so scared, and he was running holy hell across our living room, kitchen and then… Into the dining room. Well, it’s not really a dining room… It’s being used as a storage room right now until we go through the boxes. So, he somehow made it over the sneakers, and into the room where I couldn’t go get him. Dad and I were doubled over laughing so hard we were crying- the only way we could tell where Little Dude was in the dining room was the stacks of boxes which would sway as he ran into them! It was like… Holy cow, we’ve got a Tasmanian devil on our hands! We literally had tears streaming down our face- it’s amazing I didn’t ruin my look… But holy heck, if I had caught that on tape, I’d surely be a YouTube sensation right now. And by the way- Little Dude managed to flop on his back, use his front and back paws, and flicked the cone off, and then summarily ran upstairs to hide under my bed. He loves me, don’t get me wrong… But that day… He hated me!!!! It’s all good now. I gave him 4 treats, and in 10 minutes he was purring like a generator- he’s that loud. <3

It’s pretty chilly in Lyon in the mornings too and it isn’t TOO hot during the day. Which is so funny for me, because right now in India, it is 50 degrees celsius and humid as hell!

I love Fyrinnae and this look is superb! I especially love the Darling misfit on the outer corner – very cool :D

    • SnarkyPrincess

      Thanks doll! :)
I’m surprised my laughing so hard I was crying stchick didn’t wreck my blush/foundation! LOL

Our weather has been one roller coaster–highs in 60s/70s last week then BAM! 90s this week. Evenings are still pretty cool though, TG–but very unusual for Nor Cal o.0

I LOVE THIS!! Atomic Afterglow is such a pretty taupe and it looks great all “smoked out” like this…and I love the new cut, so pixie

    • SnarkyPrincess

Thanks Lizzy! I was sick of the different layers in my hair- I had accidentally cut (and hidden that fact!) the right side of my hair shorter than the left… So I just did tons and tons of layering, shortening… And I love it! It’s just… Now when I get up in the morning, my hair is like a POOF! LOL

I gets pretty hot and humid out here in Iowa. We had a few days in a row of 98-100 degree weather recently, at which point my makeup literally detached from my face as my oil production went into overdrive. At that point I decided liquid foundation is not appropriate for my skin type in that sort of weather, and off I began a quest for the perfect summer foundation…

All that aside, love the makeup but LOVE the necklace. My birthstone is garnet, which I used to hate growing up because I wanted something “pretty” like a diamond or sapphire… but now I looooove that my birthstone is a blood red gem. After ‘growing up’ it actually fits who I am perfectly. :-) I will definitely check out that Etsy shop

I thought people were crazy when they told me the Monistat Chafing Cream trick- and I’ll tell you, it ended up having to chase Little Dude to get him to come out… And not to get gross, but I ended up sweaty and was positive my face had melted off. Nope, not even a little bit! My mineral foundation stayed put, coverage was still like I had first applied it… And I had my face on all day without any wear off! :D
      Whispers: Meow Cosmetics Foundations rock!!!
I have a very large silver and garnet ring which I got from a local shop up here, and I’ve had it for about 13 or 14 years… I just cracked the stone so I’m bummed, but oh man- I should post about my favorite jewelry and where I got/get it! I make a lot of my own too!

“oppressive humidity” you hit the nail on the head! I HATE THE SOUTH! It is horrible .. this time of year I would be taking my son outside, going to the beach, parks and cookouts. But now having to be in GA the humidity is so high sometimes there is a fog in the air. This is not enjoyable weather .. been stuck indoors and I hate it :( Not to mention its steadily staying in the 90′s and 100′s! Back home it would fluctuate. NO FLUCTUATION HERE!

PS. Love the eye makeup and new hair! :waving:

    • SnarkyPrincess

Oh my GOSH I’d DIEEEEE! I had a friend down there in GA, and he said it was AWFUL… Not thankee!!
When I get in humidity like that, I walk outside like I have a huge snowsuit on- arms out and walking like I have snowshoes on… LMAO! I don’t want to sweat, but it happens anyways! ICK YUCK! Way too hot! D.C. was the best I could deal with as far as south, and I went to North Carolina a few times… And I’m telling you… As pretty as it was down there, I could never live there. It’s way too humid. I’d rather put up with harsher winters that have considerable snow than icky yucky humidity in the summer!
However- we’ll see how my old bones treat me as I get older, and where I end up moving. I’d love to live on my own island in the Caribbean, but I shy away from the sun. I don’t think it’s socially acceptable to look like Casper the Ghost in a sunny part of the world :D

  • Karen

Love the necklace! I’m pretty addicted to the pixie epoxy. It’s a 110 highs latley it really keeps the shadow in place like nothing else does. Love your hair super cute ;-)

    • SnarkyPrincess

PE is amazing! It’s going on my eyes today for the wedding I’m going to with my boyfriend <3
And thank you! I haven’t had hair this short since Middle School when a woman royally effed up my hair… But this I can style and have it super cute :D

  • Becky

I can’t believe how short your hair is! Very cute! Love the look as well. All I gotta say is poor little dude LOL :)

    • SnarkyPrincess

      Thanks doll!
This is the shortest I’ve had it since Middle School- but I’m lucky… My hair grows like a weed! It’ll be back in no time ;)

  • Rebecca M

“Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel as face primer” LOL WTH just read that! How did you find out that was a great face primer?? Sounds interesting .. I am in need of a face primer.

    • SnarkyPrincess

I remember reading it somewhere, and was like WTH?!
The ingredient in facial primers is dimethecone- which is the main ingredient in Monistat! LOL
Yes, I felt like a fool buying it, then putting it on my face… But I’ll tell ya- my makeup did not BUDGE! :D

  • SilhouetteScreams

As much as I hate the expression, this really makes your eye colour *pop* :) I wish I lived high up in the mountains, or at least somewhere that’s not Australia during Summer D:

    • SnarkyPrincess

Hhhmmm… Hate the expression, but love the intention!
      Thank you :D
This was a rockin look- I wish I had caught more of the sparklies/shimmery look of the shadows!

  • mNg

I love Electric Stardust and Darling Misfit in this look! So pretty :D

    • SnarkyPrincess

      Thanks doll :)
I wanted something… Unexpected! And it worked!
