I’ve seen this trending a bit online, so the other day I broke down and looked for tutorials (picture, because my computer has no sound) on how to achieve this awesome nail look. It’s no secret I love nail stamping, but I also like to try different things too… But by no means am I a “pro” at doing my own nails. Unlike some of the fantastic bloggers I’ve seen with impeccable applied polish, amazing cuticles, and beautiful designs… I can say mine really don’t compare.
My cuticles are a hot mess, I didn’t clean up this manicure properly… And since I don’t leave a gap between my cuticle and polish, I’m one of “those girls” who apply riiiight up to it. Yeah- growing out, it’s not so sexy to have that ridge of polish that’s just… There. The gap reminds me of my not-so-patiently waiting to get my formerly acrylic-ed nails filled. I hated it. So I paint the whole thing. This time though, my cleanup brush finally gave out on me. It was an Eco-Tools eyeshadow brush, but it was shaped so nicely I used it to do my French Tips. But the bristles started to adjust, move all around, and finally got so bad I had to pull some fibers out… Then trim the entire thing to keep its shape… And it pissed me off so badly the other night while cleaning up my nails I just chucked it. Definitely not what I was expecting for such a good brush… Or the end it met in the garbage bin.
Anyways- these came out pretty good, all things considered. They’re not ideal, but for a first go-round… I’m pretty proud! I am NOT, however, showing you my thumbs. I tried to “galaxy” them… And it totally didn’t work. So you don’t get to see this time around! I’ll definitely be doing this again because it’s so fun, and I love the depth and way the colors act with each other. All that I did was use a cosmetic sponge I snipped into uneven pieces, so that I’d have more texture that way! Dip in a dot of polish, and start applying colors- you can go any way you want, but I did blues, greens, pinks, grey, yellow, orange, and then added some black back in. When I was happy with what I had, I put random daubs of the glitter polish on each nail, and then finished it all off with my Seche Vite Quick Dry Top Coat. I did go back and dig out all the polishes I used, so they’re below:
